Problems with Deer eating our trees
I noticed some deer damage in November and did some research on the web for deer repellents. A study was done in N. Carolina and the best product they found was egg powder. My wife and I sprinkled the egg powder on our trees and about a month later we saw that the damage was even worse. Does anyone have any other suggestions? We are now looking at fencing but the cost to do 40 acres is very high. It seems like the damage was about equal to our balsam and fraser.

Sometime in the recent past I spoke with Lee Richardson at Lees trees about this exact problem. He was having some success by having the deer fed at locations away from the tree farm ex. neighbors farm. This kept there attention for food away from his tree farm. My brothers home is about 1/3 of a mile from my farm and he has been feeding the deer and so far i have not seen deer depredation. I think the DNR may have a special permit to thin the herd if it is truly problematic.
